Local (Wasilla) IRLP Helps

J  On the net @ www.irlp.net will be found rules, advice, lists, addresses, menus, and etc.

J  To find a node address and current node status go to www.irlp.net and choose Connected Nodes and Reflector status under the NODE INFO list. Then, under the NETWORK SUMMARY choose  USA . This will expand out all the US nodes sorted by states, Alaska being near the first.

J  The Wasilla Node (3822) must be idle before it can be connected to another node. 73 is the IDLE code to transmit.

J  The Wasilla Node (3822) can be connected to any other IDLE node by transmitting the desired 4 digit node address. When the desired node is not IDLE but you key them up anyway, a message will be transmitted on that node, notifying those listening that someone is trying to connect. They will need to bring their node to IDLE before you can connect.

J  REFLECTORS are computer servers that can be used to couple multiple nodes and reflectors together. A list of REFLECTOR addresses can be found under the NETWORK SUMMARY list. You can connect to a reflector whenever your node (Wasilla) is idle.

J  REFLECTORS usually have 10 Meet Me Ports ( 0-9 ). For instance, the Western Reflector in Las Vegas has an address of 9250, the zero being port zero. You could have chosen port 9253 instead. The Alaska Reflector address is 9070

J  ECHO REFLECTORS allow you to listen to your signal quality after you stop transmitting. It’s 10 address starts at 9990. It is a very good practice to try this out for self evaluation of your signal.

J  The idle Wasilla Node (3822) can access the weekly updated ARRL audio news by transmitting *1 . It lasts for about 5 minutes and can not be stopped once started.

J  A second weekly updated Ham Radio audio news report can be accessed by transmitting *2 . This lasts about 20 minutes so be prepared for a lot of listening. It is different than the ARRL audio news.

J  Last item, before keying up, ensure you wait a few seconds to allow others to join the group. And after you key up wait a second or two before transmitting or your first words will be lost.
